How to install AccurioPro VDP SERVER software
This article will instruct you on how to install your AccurioPro VDP SERVER software. The steps provided below are for a full installation of the software onto an existing or new computer.
NOTE: AccurioPro VDP SERVER is a version of AccurioPro VDP software that works only with Adobe InDesign Server. If you are looking for installation instructions for the Desktop version of AccurioPro VDP software for use with Adobe InDesign, please click here.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Before you begin, you will need the following items:
- Adobe InDesign Server Software
Before installing AccurioPro VDP SERVER, you must first install a copy of Adobe InDesign Server on your system. If you have not yet installed Adobe InDesign Server software, please do so before proceeding with the installation. Installation of Adobe InDesign Server is straightforward – simply run the software installer and follow the basic prompts. No activation or serial number is required for Adobe InDesign Server. - AccurioPro VDP SERVER Software Installer
If Adobe InDesign Server software has already been installed, next you will need access to the software installer for AccurioPro VDP SERVER software. All installers are available on our AccurioPro VDP Server Downloads Page, or our support team may send you a direct link to the installer that you need. - Software Activation File (mpsactivation.lic)
Once you have installed AccurioPro VDP SERVER software, you must activate AccurioPro VDP SERVER using the order code provided by Meadows. For AccurioPro VDP SERVER, since there is no user interface the activation is achieved by placing a special activation file into the Plug-Ins/Meadows folder. The name of the file is mpsactivation.lic.
New Installations: You should have received an mpsactivation.lic file from Meadows. The download you received from Meadows will contain this file. You may have also received the file directly via an email attachment. If you do not have an mpsactivaton.lic file, please contact Meadows support.
Upgrade Installations: If you are upgrading an existing AccurioPro VDP Server system, please make a copy of your current mpsactivation.lic file. This file can be found in the following location on your system:
/Adobe InDesign Server XXXX/Plug-Ins/Meadows/mpsactivation.lic
(in the above example, substitute your current InDesign Server version in place of XXXX, e.g. Adobe InDesign Server 2025)
Make a copy of the mpsactivation.lic file and set it aside on the desktop of your computer. You can then use this file to activate your software as described in the SOFTWARE ACTIVATION section below.
SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
To install AccurioPro VDP SERVER software along with any Optional Modules, please follow the instructions below:
- Quit Adobe InDesign Server
- Run the AccurioPro VDP SERVER software installer and follow the default prompts
- Continue with the installation process until complete
SOFTWARE ACTIVATION
Once you have completed the software installation, you must now activate the software. For this you will need your mpsactivation.lic file, as described earlier.
- Go to the following folder location on your system:
/Adobe InDesign Server XXXX/Plug-Ins/Meadows/
(in the above example, substitute your InDesign Server version in place of XXXX, e.g. Adobe InDesign Server 2025) - Copy the mpsactivation.lic file into this folder location.
- Start your Adobe InDesign Server software from the console.
An example startup script is shown below:

NOTES
> For Mac systems, be sure to preface indesignserver with ./ as shown above or the software may not launch properly
> For Windows systems, you must configure the InDesignServer.exe AND the startup script to run as an Administrator
> The -noport option is appropriate if you are running Adobe InDesign Server with Enfocus Switch or another automation product. If running for SOAP communication (required for custom script-based systems or for use with the AccurioPro VDP Job Queue software), use the -port #### argument instead of -noport (e.g. -port 8083) - View console messages and check for errors
The first time Adobe InDesign Server starts up after installation, you should see messages from AccurioPro VDP software indicating successful activation. An example of these messages is shown below:
INFO [server] Activation for AccurioPro VDP has been read from the local activation file [Order Code: EVAL-XXX-XXXX-XXXX].
INFO [server] The software AccurioPro VDP has been successfully activated.
Subsequent restarts of Adobe InDesign Server should indicate simply that AccurioPro VDP Server software has loaded.
INFO [server] MPS AccurioPro VDP Server 20.8.9.22 plug-in loaded.
Below is a screenshot of a typical Adobe InDesign Server and AccurioPro VDP Server console that is displayed at startup. If there are any error messages displayed in the console, please contact the Meadows technical support team. At this point, the installation and activation of AccurioPro VDP SERVER software is complete.
ENFOCUS SWITCH CONFIGURATION
If you have not yet installed your Enfocus Switch software or the AccurioPro VDP App for Enfocus Switch, please click here for complete Enfocus Switch installation instructions.
If you are upgrading an existing Enfocus Switch system for use with Adobe InDesign Server, please complete the following steps:
- Verify the AccurioPro VDP App version number
Download and install the latest version of the AccurioPro VDP App from the Enfocus Appstore. The version of the App should be v24.25 or newer. You can determine the version of your current AccurioPro VDP App by hovering over the App in the Flow elements panel in Enfocus Switch, as shown below:
- Associate the new Adobe InDesign Server with the AccurioPro VDP App
After updating the App, right-click on the App in the Flow elements panel and choose the Select path to application… option. You will be prompted to select your copy of Adobe InDesign Server. Navigate to and select the InDesignServer.exe file that is in the Adobe InDesign Server folder.
- This should complete the Enfocus Switch changes.
