Enfocus Switch timeout error message (file does not exist)
When processing large jobs in an Enfocus Switch workflow, Adobe InDesign may display error messages similar to the following:
Either the file does not exist, you do not have permission,
or the file may be in use by another application.

First, Check the Message Log
Errors like these can occur when Switch times out during extended processing. To confirm this, if you receive an error similar to those listed above (or if you receive any error at all), the first place to look for details is the Switch message log. If your process has timed out, you may see an error listed in the message log similar to the one shown below:
Easy Fix - Increase Switch Timeout Setting
In order to repair this issue, please set the following Enfocus Switch preference setting:
- Select Enfocus Switch > Preferences...
- Click on the Error Handling selection.
- Verify the setting for Abort processes after (minutes). The default setting is 20 minutes, which could be too short when merging some large variable data jobs.
- Set this value to 0, which will turn off the timeout. Optionally you can set this to some large number that you know should never be reached in normal operation.
- Click OK to save the preferences.
Your Enfocus Switch system should now function properly with no timeout errors.
