Windows registry errors with Enfocus Switch and Adobe InDesign
The AccurioPro VDP integration with Enfocus Switch allows you to craft incredibly powerful and fully automated systems for producing Variable Data output. For more information about AccurioPro for Enfocus Switch, please visit www.accurioprovdp.com/automation.
For clients running AccurioPro and Enfocus Switch on Windows systems (Windows 7 or newer), the system may not generate the required registry entry for Adobe InDesign. If this is the case on your system, when you try to use a AccurioPro flow element in Enfocus Switch you may receive an error message similar to the message shown below:
MPS Error: Could not locate the application "InDesign.Application.2022" for execution.
On some older systems you might also receive the following error message:
Error executing script: code <0>, description <ActiveX component can't create
object: 'InDesign.Application.CC.2019'>, source position <331>, source text <>
Run Adobe InDesign as Administrator
To repair this issue, you will need to run Adobe InDesign as administrator by following the steps outlined below.
You must have Administrator rights on your workstation to complete the steps below. Please see your System Administrator if you need help with this.
- Quit Adobe InDesign.
- On your workstation, open Windows Start > All Programs and navigate to the Adobe InDesign application.
- Right-click the Adobe InDesign application and select Run as administrator from the shortcut menu, and follow the prompt.
- Quit Adobe InDesign after it loads.
By running Adobe InDesign as administrator one time, your Windows registry for the Adobe InDesign application should now be updated.
What if this doesn't work?
On some systems, running Adobe InDesign as administrator just one time should be enough to update the registry and allow the Switch system to function properly in the future.
However, if you continue to experience problems (or if you just don't want to mess around), we recommend that you configure the Adobe InDesign application to run as administrator all the time. To do so, set the properties for the Adobe InDesign.exe program file as shown below:
This should ensure that Adobe InDesign will always have the correct permissions to function properly with Enfocus Switch.
